Julia Kirvan, LCSW-C, is a clinical social worker with over fourteen years experience working with families, adolescents and adults. She specializes in the area of separation and divorce and its impact on the family as a whole. In addition, she has extensive experience working in the areas of domestic violence, child abuse and neglect, child development and parent education. She is a trained parent coordinator who helps divorced parents work towards a more positive co-parenting relationship through improved communication skills and assists clients to co-parent in a way that promotes the well-being of their children.
In addition, she serves as a divorce coach and child specialist in collaborative cases. Her background includes training in collaborative divorce and interest based negotiation and mediation skills. As a divorce coach, she helps clients identify and manage their concerns and feelings, improve their communication skills and focus on the needs of their children. This is done in a supportive fashion that promotes open communication and transparency by both parties. As a child specialist, she serves as the “voice of the child” in the collaborative process. She acts as a neutral party who assists children in expressing their needs, concerns and interests.
She graduated from The American University with a Bachelor’s of Arts in communication. She received her Master’s degree in social work from The Catholic University of America.
