Dr. Mary Atwater brings her skills as a family systems clinical psychologist to the collaborative team. Divorce does not need to end in high conflict. Children, as well as adults, need skills to competently separate and divorce without prolonging pain and suffering.

Dr. Atwater received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Denver. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Magna cum Laude from the University of Colorado, and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health from Colorado State University. She has helped children, adults and families for over 12 years.

Dr. Atwater has over fifteen years of training and teaching experience. At Bethesda Youth Services, she volunteered her services providing systematic effectiveness parenting training. Dr. Atwater has also provided her time to numerous senior and middle schools, teaching tolerance and conflict resolution skills. In the Colorado foster care system, she developed training programs and instructed new foster parents in effective parenting and care of their foster children.

Dr. Atwater has implemented conflict resolution and negotiating training programs for schools, has trained police cadets and law enforcement personnel in stress management (including suicide, loss, and grief), communication strategies, conflict resolution, and parenting skills, and has evaluated assessment procedures for adolescents who were both suicidal and homicidal.
