Sogand Zamani represents individuals in all aspects of family and domestic relations law. Sogand co-founded Zamani & Scott LLP because she has a passion for assisting and advocating for individuals seeking to form families through adoption or assisted reproductive technology (ART), and to help individuals separate from their partners in a dignified manner. She represents adoptive parents and birth parents, including gay and lesbian individuals and couples (LGBT), in adoption matters through independent or agency adoptions, and related proceedings. She also advocates and represents individuals and couples seeking to use ART, such as gestational carrier arrangements and donor egg and/or embryos to achieve family formation, and has lectured on assisted reproductive technology, embryo disposition and divorce at American University, Washington College of Law. In addition, Sogand represents individuals and families in custody, dissolution and divorce actions, preparing marital settlement agreements, parenting agreements, negotiating dignified and amicable resolutions, and litigating at trial. As a trained Mediator and Collaborative law practitioner, she has a strong interest in representing individuals seeking to pursue divorce and dissolution in a dignified and less acrimonious way. In addition, Sogand has experience in wills, trusts and estate planning and general litigation. She provides a wide range of estate, wealth preservation and succession planning services for individuals and families of all ages, ranging from the preparation of wills to the formation of trusts, partnerships, and family businesses. Sogand received a J.D. from The George Washington University Law School, where she was Executive Articles Editor of the American Intellectual Property Law Association Quarterly Journal, a member of the Moot Court Board and Mock Trial Board, Champion of the Cohen & Cohen Mock Trial Competition and a student intern with the Honorable Judge Peter J. Messitte on the United States District Court for the Southern District of Maryland. Sogand received an A.M. from Harvard University, Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and a B.S., cum laude, from Georgetown University, School of Foreign Service. She is fluent in English, French and Persian.
