Steve Stein brings twenty-five years to the practice of marriage and family therapy. When marriage is unsustainable, Steve is well versed in the needs of the divorcing and post divorced couple. Trained in collaborative divorce, he espouses the value of cooperative problem solving, particularly as it relates to the development of the parenting plan (custodial arrangement) and the overall well-being of children. In less harmonious circumstance, he serves as a parenting coordinator to help couples experience less conflict in co-parenting. Besides couples and families, Steve’s practice includes individuals with a wide array of mental health issues and concerns.

Steve provides parent education to various venues as a teacher/speaker, writer, and consultant/coach. He teaches a popular seminar on “Limit Setting” for the Parent Encouragement Program (PEP), as well as a course on “Positive Psychology.” He has written articles on sibling rivalry and anger management for the Washington Parent. He’s collaborated with a colleague/attorney on “Divorce and Relocations: Emotional and Legal Implications” (Fall, 2010) for an academic journal.

Steve is adjunct faculty at John Hopkins University, School of Education, Department of Counseling and Human Services.
